The Front Desk Clerk is responsible for a range of guest services, including assisting with check-in and check-out, answering incoming calls, and processing special requests in accordance with company policies and procedures. To perform this role successfully, the individual must be able to competently carry out all essential duties. This includes a willingness and ability to walk the property after dark, handle upset or intoxicated guests, and manage issues independently during graveyard shifts when management is only a phone call away. Effective communication is crucial to ensuring the smooth operation of the business. In addition to the core front desk responsibilities, the Front Desk Clerk may be required to assist with other tasks as needed, such as cleaning rooms, laundry, moving items, and trash duties. The specific duties may vary day-to-day due to the high-demand nature of the motel or unexpected workloads.
Responsibilities: Always maintain positive guest relations. Maintain complete knowledge at all times of: All hotel features/services and hours of operation. All room rates and special packages or discounts available. Obtain an assigned bank drawer and ensure the accuracy of contracted monies. Count the drawer when coming on to shift; the clerk on duty is responsible for the drawer. Always keep the bank secure. Answer the department telephone within three rings, using the correct greeting and telephone etiquette. Verify registration card information with the guests. Process check-in and check-out guests as required. Accept and record wake-up call requests. Resolve discrepancies on the room status report with Housekeeping. Report discrepancies to Manager. Confronting someone not following the rules with a no-nonsense attitude. Multi-task and use critical thinking.
