Job Title:Molecular Research Associate 1 - Department of Neurosurgery, Kim Lab

Department:Medicine Neurological Surgery

A full time research associate (1.0 FTE) position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Kim, Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurological Surgery. Dr. Kim's laboratory is focused on identifying novel therapeutic strategies to provide neuroprotection and improve functional recovery after ischemic stroke. In vivo animal models, slice electrophysiology, histological/immunohistochemically analysis of cell death, flow cytometry, and neurobehavioral testing are utilized for the interdisciplinary studies performed in our laboratory. The applicant will be responsible for on-boarding and developmental training of new staff with the utilization of biochemical, histological and molecular biology methods to analyze signaling and mechanism in the post-ischemic brain. The position will be responsible for design, execution and management of research project as well as assist in the preparation of research manuscript and preparation of presentations at national and international conference/workshops. Specific ongoing projects the applicant will participate in include the role of novel immune-based therapeutic interventions to enhance functional recovery.


The position will work in a collaborative team environment, while being expected to be a self-motivated investigator who can manage their time efficiently. The position will assume some management roles within the laboratory, in particular management of mouse colony, ordering and oversight of undergraduate researchers.


Minimum Education Requirements

The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Neuroscience, Cellular/Molecular Biology, or related field and experience working in a research laboratory performing molecular/biochemical/cell biology experiments.
