As Modeling and Simulation (M&S) / Wargaming Engineer for BlueHalo, you will work with a team of analysts, software developers, and subject matter experts (SMEs), to develop models and simulations to support modeling Directed Energy (DE) studies and wargames. You will lead and participate in mission and campaign-level planning, design, implementation, and testing of DE system models and threat effects to support analyses, studies, and wargames. In addition, wargaming will require coordination with external players and customers, infrastructure managers, IT network managers, and security managers. The M&S/Wargaming Engineer has a vision for extending and improving software frameworks, and the ability to communicate to developers using Git software repositories, open-source tools, Python scripts, MATLAB data processing scripts, virtual machines, etc. to support modeling and simulation tool improvements/needs. This position is 100% onsite at Kirtland AFB. Responsibilities Regularly coordinate with BlueHalo personnel and government partners to enhance our cross-domain modeling expertise in DE-centered multi-domain analysis, studies and wargames. Will bridge the gap between SMEs, software engineers, and analysts/warfighters Perform modeling and simulation engineering tasks with Government Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) M&S software tools, like the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration and Modeling (AFSIM). Bring strong technical experience with any of the following: MATLAB, Python, C , or other modern programming languages. Develop Modeling and Simulation (M&S) expertise across a wide range of disciplines related to DoD DE systems, threats, and campaign plans useful to inform and perform assessments for DoD stakeholders. Learn DoD DE systems requirements, align development, analysis and wargaming to meet those requirements, and communicate results to stakeholders. You are experienced with data-driven analysis, Design of Experiments, and wargaming. Design and perform analysis to verify and validate (V&V) models and frameworks. Required Qualifications Candidate must be a U.S. citizen and have a US Secret Clearance (minimum). Candidate must possess a bachelor's degree in engineering, math, physics, computer science or other related field and 2+ years of experience in related field. Candidate must be able to work as a Modeling and Simulation Engineer in a team environment performing programming and analytical tasks. Demonstrated ability to use and uphold established software development processes including requirements gathering, analysis, design, testing, peer review, and continuous integration techniques are essential. Proficiency in one or more of the following programming languages is required: MATLAB, Python, C , or other object-oriented language. Desired Qualifications Experience in missile defense-related or other DoD large project systems or test analysis. Highly desire experience with the AFSIM simulation architecture and its scripting language. Highly desire 4+ years wargaming and/or modeling and simulation experience Desire familiarity with the DE domain in either High Energy Laser or High Powered Electromagnetic/Microwave systems. Desire familiarity with Agile development principles and processes.
