Inside the Role The Model Based Software Developer Technical Fellow is the technical lead of strategic discussions and analysis on the present and future states of Model-Based SW Development for ECU Application SW and ECU agnostic concepts for software architecture. The ideal candidate will be a software lead with deep expertise to conduct research and implement state of the art software architectures for Daimler Truck with a focus on SW modeling, related technologies, tools and processes. This role provides representation of Daimler Truck's TT/S organization in industry meeting, conferences and technical committees. The Model Based SW Development TF role is important in making Daimler Truck's ECU SW Development less risky, more robust, faster, and more involved with vehicle knowledge.
Position can be filled in any TT/S region and will be based on final selected candidate location.

Responsibilities for Model Based Software Developer Technical Fellow - Supporting engineering teams in determining whether MBD is the right path to go for their specific situation, consult in setting up tool chains, processes, and capabilities. Building a worldwide expert network of SW modelers.
- Work with global software developers on the implementation of customer centric features and functions through effective and efficient development processes to generate quality software code.
- Support architecture teams and management with technical guidance for future strategy and technology implementation for TT/S.
- Demonstrate and educate on the ability of In-house SW Modeling to gain faster and better results in a more efficient way.
- Main point of contact for overall software strategy and implementation.
- Able to guide team members and make technical decisions on software implementation with overall market view and analysis of current and future technology
- Able to work with global software stakeholders such as product strategy, regulatory bodies, manufacturing, connected services, etc on software implementation and maintenance.
- Proactively identifies and solves the most complex problems within technical discipline and ensures continuous improvement
- Can work with other software experts and developers to provide recommendations and solutions for strategic and critical topics in TT/S.
- Create a continuous overall view of Daimler Truck's Application SW processes and tools looking for ways to improve our people, processes and products.
- Cultivate and maintain a network of internal technical experts able to provide analysis support in their respective fields
- Look for effective, sustainable and cost effective solutions, like SW reusability, which contribute to customer value.
- Periodically assess end to end software development both internal and external to Daimler Truck to ensure we are employing the most robust and advanced standards and techniques in the industry (ASPICE, AutoSAR, etc.)
Knowledge You Should Bring - Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- 5 years of experience in leading ECU SW Development
- Experience with complex ECU SW development
- Structure and design of AUTOSAR application SW architecture (ECU Extract)
- Strong Expertise in AUTOSAR Run-Time Environment (RTE)
- Expert in Daimler Truck's Model-Based SW Development processes
- Experience in utilizing Time Partition Testing for application SW for concepts and implementation purposes
- Strong experience leading cross-cultural teams and working groups
- Ability to set priorities according to business needs with minimal oversight
- Detailed understanding of Commercial Vehicles Technologies and Applications
- Experience teaching complex concepts to diverse groups of Engineers
- Passion to communicate strategic importance of in-house SW development to company leadership
- Ability to report complex SW concepts at a high level for high level management audiences
- Constant drive to explore new technologies, methods, and tools to improve quality and efficiency
Exceptional Candidates Might Have - Expertise in planning and conceptualizing of SW components for complex ECUs
- Ability in performing and educating Engineers in SW Component Design in XDIS
- Knowledge of designing distributed features and systems across multiple ECUs
- Experience with Functional Safety (ISO26262) and it's impact on Commercial Vehicle SW
- 10 years+ of experience in ECU SW Development
