Omni Wound Physicians (OWP) is actively hiring Medical Doctors (MDs/DOs) across Massachusetts to lead mobile wound care services. Our physician-led model brings specialized wound care directly to the bedside in skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) , long-term care facilities , and private residences -delivering exceptional outcomes, reducing hospitalizations, and closing care access gaps across both urban and rural areas.

We offer flexible direct hire (W-2) and independent contractor (1099) opportunities for physicians seeking to practice at the top of their license while receiving support, autonomy, and competitive compensation. Full-time and part-time schedules are available.

Practice Model Options

Core Clinical Team Member (Direct Hire - W-2)
Competitive bi-weekly salary based on region and caseload
Full-time (30+ hrs/week) and part-time availability

Active malpractice insurance at the time of contracting

Mileage is not reimbursed; contractors must track and report it as a deductible expense on annual tax filings
Contractor roles do not include employee benefits or tax withholding

Schedule & Shift Expectations
Minimum commitment: 2 shifts per week
Typical shift length: 8-9 hours, depending on patient volume and travel
Full-time eligibility: 30+ hours per week
Daily travel radius: up to 70 miles within the assigned geographic area
Weekend and on-call assignments may occur with advance notice

Core Responsibilities

Wound Care Physicians with Omni Wound Physicians are responsible for independently managing a mobile patient caseload and delivering advanced bedside care in non-traditional environments. This is a procedural role suited to physicians with excellent clinical judgment and adaptability.

Key responsibilities include:
Evaluate, diagnose, and manage complex wounds , including diabetic ulcers, venous and arterial ulcers, pressure injuries (Stage I-IV), surgical and post-traumatic wounds
Perform bedside procedures , including sharp/excisional debridement, negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), tissue biopsies, and gastrostomy care
Assess healing trajectories and modify treatment plans as necessary, based on evidence-based protocols and individual progress
Educate patients, caregivers, and facility staff on wound care prevention, best practices, and care coordination
Document clinical encounters accurately and in real time using OWP's HIPAA-compliant electronic health record (EHR) platform
Collaborate with SNF teams, facility staff, and internal coordinators to ensure consistent care and continuity of services
Participate in internal quality improvement, peer review, training sessions, and workflow refinement initiatives

Physicians must also be willing and able to perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned, which are necessary to support patient care, compliance, and organizational success.

For Physicians New to Wound Care

We provide a structured onboarding process, access to clinical mentorship, and certification reimbursement. Many of our top physicians have transitioned from internal medicine, family medicine, geriatrics, surgery, or hospitalist backgrounds.

Procedurally confident at the bedside
Adaptable across SNF, home, and LTC settings
Self-motivated, organized, and clinically curious
Compassionate and collaborative with patients and staff

Candidate Requirements

Required:
MD or DO degree
Active, unrestricted Massachusetts medical license
Board certification in Surgery (preferred), Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or OB/GYN
3-6 years post-residency experience
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Valid driver's license and access to a reliable, insured vehicle

Preferred:
Enrollment in wound care certification program (CWSP, CWS) within 2-3 months of hire
DEA registration
Prior SNF, LTC, home health, or hospitalist experience
Proficiency in mobile EHR systems

Physical and Driving Requirements

This role requires regular travel and direct patient care in field-based environments. Essential functions include:
Mobility and Endurance: Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform bedside procedures for extended periods
Lifting Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds (clinical bags, mobile equipment, supplies)
Driving:
Daily travel up to 70 miles
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Proof of vehicle insurance meeting minimum state requirements
Ability to drive between multiple care locations during business hours
Technology Use: Must use mobile devices (tablet/laptop) to document in the EHR at the point of care
Accessibility: Must enter SNFs and private residences, including non-ADA-compliant locations
