About the American Dream SchoolThe American Dream School (ADS) is a dual-language (Spanish/English) 6th to 12th-grade middle and high school in the Mott Haven area of the South Bronx. The mission of the American Dream School is to develop academic excellence in both Spanish and English, preparing students to excel in college and become leaders in their communities.About the PositionThe American Dream School is seeking a bilingual (Spanish/English) motivated, and engaging teacher who is committed to serving English Language Learners and cultivating bilingualism and biliteracy. The ideal candidate has a great love and understanding of middle school mathematics themes and concepts. This candidate will also be able to break down mathematical concepts into a language that makes math accessible for different learning styles and abilities. Lastly, he/she will have the ability to create real-world applications/projects for students to see how the math they are learning is used in everyday life.ResponsibilitiesClassroom PreparationDiscuss assigned duties with teachers for planning, preparation and development of teaching aidsPrepare detailed lesson materials, including technological equipment and bulletin boardsImplementing curriculumDistribute materials and assist in other time management/organizational dutiesType, file, and duplicate materialsTeaching ResponsibilitiesTutor and assist children individually or in small groupsAssist in the distribution, collection and grading of tests and homework assignmentsObserve students' performance, and record relevant data to assess progressParticipate in teacher-parent conferences regarding students' progress or problemsProvide extra assistance to students with special needs including physical helpAttend and participate in staff meetingsPrepare students to be successful taking the NY State Math assessmentClassroom Management ResponsibilitiesSupervise and manage students in all spaces, upholding ADS core values, rules and policiesInstruct, maintain, and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materialMaintain accurate records and create reportsSpecial Education ResponsibilitiesCreate annual goal for students' IEPImplement and track progress of annual goals of students' IEPs as it pertains to your content areaWrite progress reports (Present levels of Performance) for students as requestedParticipate in yearly IEP conferencesEstablish appropriate modifications and goals for each studentAdditional ResponsibilitiesAssist with SMI/SRI testingAssist with breakfast/lunch dutiesPerform other assigned dutiesFollowing a co-teaching modelPlan and execute quarterly Math days (ie Pi-Day, 100th School Day)Community OutreachPosition Requirements:Bilingual Spanish/English; preferredNew York State Certified (accepts other states credentials);Demonstrate solid knowledge and understanding of math contentStrong organizational skills;Maintain confidentiality and meets deadlines, complete assignments with consistent accuracy;Tech-savvy; familiarity and experience with Microsoft Office, Gmail, Google docs/drive;Effective verbal, writing and listening skills.Salary is commensurate with Education, Years of Experience, and New York State Teacher Certification Types: Contract, Full-timeSalary: $59,119.00 - $125,489.00 per yearBenefits:401(k)401(k) matchingDental insuranceFlexible spending accountHealth insuranceHealth savings accountLife insurancePaid time offVision insuranceSchedule:8 hour shiftApplication Question(s):Do you live in the New York City area?Education:Bachelor's (Required)Experience:Teaching: 1 year (Required)Language:Spanish (Required)License/Certification:New York State Teacher Certification (Required)Work Location: In person
