A prominent law firm based in Newport Beach, CA is seeking a litigation associate with mid-to-senior level experience to support a broad array of commercial and insurance-related dispute matters. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney who thrives in high-stakes litigation, enjoys hands-on involvement across the lifecycle of complex cases, and is seeking to work collaboratively with seasoned litigators and sophisticated clientele. The role offers a chance to be immersed in challenging assignments with the support of a robust litigation team and access to national resources.

Duties:

  1. Manage various phases of civil litigation, including initial filings, discovery, pretrial motions, trial preparation, and appeals.
  2. Draft substantive legal documents, including memoranda, pleadings, and dispositive motions.
  3. Lead and coordinate discovery efforts, including depositions, document production, and written discovery.
  4. Conduct legal research and provide strategic analysis of case law, statutes, and regulations.
  5. Interact directly with clients, opposing counsel, witnesses, and subject matter experts.
  6. Participate in case strategy development and contribute to team-based problem-solving.

Requirements:

  1. 4-8 years of substantive experience in commercial litigation, including exposure to insurance-related matters.
  2. Demonstrated case-handling skills appropriate for experience level, including client engagement and adversary communication.
  3. Strong oral and written advocacy abilities.
  4. Familiarity with deposition practice and courtroom procedures preferred.
  5. Active license to practice law in the State of California and in good standing.

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school.

Certifications:

Admission to the California Bar (mandatory).
