Leidos Defense Systems is looking for a Mid-Level Cybersecurity Software Engineer to collaborate with a skilled team dedicated to developing cutting-edge solutions for Cyber, Electronic Warfare (EW), and Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) threats targeting U.S. weapon systems. This full-time role entails leading and executing the development of advanced network security detection algorithms tailored for tactical edge intrusion detection systems while driving research into vulnerabilities and software development prioritization. This position is part of the Leidos Cyber Electromagnetic Activity (CEMA) team, based in Huntsville, Alabama.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop innovative software solutions and techniques to protect data and networks and respond to security attacks.
  • Engage in research and development of signature and behavior-based methods to defend against adversarial network attacks.
  • Collaborate with internal experts to create technical solutions, ensuring deep analysis and understanding of the end-product impact.
  • Tackle technical challenges through detailed research and experimentation.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in defensive cybersecurity, specifically in C, C , Rust, Go, or similar compiled languages.
  • Solid understanding of networking protocols across all layers and network architecture.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of software development best practices.
  • Familiarity with software build systems like CMake, Meson, or Bazel.
  • Proficient with version control tools.
  • Comfortable using CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or TeamCity.
  • Experience with network analysis tools such as Wireshark.
  • Ability to develop cross-platform software for Linux, Windows, Embedded systems, and Server-grade hardware.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Git for version control.
  • Hands-on experience in a security operations center (SOC).
  • Familiarity with Network Security Monitoring (NSM).
  • Experience participating in blue/purple/red team efforts focused on U.S. Department of Defense systems and networks.
  • Relevant certifications such as Network+, Security+, CySA+, or Linux+ are advantageous.

Pay Range: $85,150.00 - $153,925.00
