Your Role

Leidos Defense Systems is excited to welcome a Mid-Level Cyber Software Engineer to our team. You'll be at the forefront of developing unique solutions aimed at addressing Cyber, Electronic Warfare, and Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) threats to U.S. weapon systems. In this role, you will lead the way in creating innovative network security detection algorithms for tactical edge intrusion detection systems while conducting vital vulnerability research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement software solutions that protect data, networks, and net-centric capabilities.
  • Research and develop signature and behavior-based defensive techniques for tactical networks.
  • Collaborate with internal experts to solve technical challenges and enhance end-products.
  • Engage in research and experimentation to drive technical solutions.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional programming experience in C, C , Rust, Go, or similar compiled languages.
  • A solid understanding of networking protocols at all layers and network architecture.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of software development best practices and version control systems.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or TeamCity.
  • Proficiency in using Wireshark.
  • Experience in developing cross-platform software for Linux, Windows, Embedded devices, and Server hardware.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a TS/SCI Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Git version control.
  • Hands-on experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC).
  • Background in Network Security Monitoring (NSM).
  • Experience with red/blue/purple teaming for U.S. DOD systems.
  • Relevant certifications such as Network+, Security+, CySA+, or Linux+.
Location: This full-time position is based in Huntsville, Alabama.

Pay Range: $85,150.00 - $153,925.00, which may vary based on experience and other factors.
