Leidos is on the lookout for a skilled Microsoft Exchange Systems Specialist to join our dynamic team in support of a major Department of Defense enterprise IT project. If you are an expert in developing and implementing on-prem Microsoft Exchange solutions for diverse enterprise environments, we want to hear from you. This role offers a chance to work with cutting-edge physical and virtual server technologies.

In this job, you will engage in crucial technical planning for hardware and software upgrades, while also developing comprehensive implementation and upgrade guides. Your expertise will be essential in updating documentation to support Risk Management Framework (RMF) Authority to Operate (ATO) requests. Partnering closely with engineering and operations teams, you'll ensure that customer upgrade timelines are met and facilitate technical assessments, system testing for functionality, security compliance, and quality assurance during production implementations.

The position includes managing solutions that encompass Microsoft Exchange 2019 on-prem, as well as M365 Exchange Online with hybrid configurations across various classifications and mission requirements. You will play a pivotal role in a large-scale, multi-enclave enterprise environment, working collaboratively to meet mission objectives and provide efficient system functionality.

Primary Duties:
  • Remotely access servers to conduct technical software configurations and perform remedial actions as needed.
  • Provide Tier 3 engineering support encompassing implementation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and monitoring of both physical and virtual servers.
  • Collaborate with other service lanes to analyze network latency and enhance user experience.
  • Collect data for problem analysis and develop actionable solutions according to established Problem Management guidelines.
  • Implement an extensive availability and capacity management solution grounded in lessons learned and best practices.
  • Generate follow-up reports detailing technical findings, feedback, and resolutions for root cause analysis and operational assessments.
  • Support customer needs in a 24/7/365 mission environment, with availability for on-call support during outages.
  • Update operational documentation for continuous 24/7/365 monitoring duties.
  • Troubleshoot email routing and security services utilizing technologies such as McAfee/Trellix and Proofpoint.
  • Oversee the Exchange Online functionalities within an Office 365 hybrid/cloud environment.
  • Manage roles, services, and permissions in line with mandates from Government Service Owners and Cyber Security standards.
  • Create and implement PowerShell scripts to automate routine tasks and enhance monitoring efficiency.
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Adept at collaborating with service lanes to resolve inquiries and problems.
  • Extensive background as a Tier 2 System Administrator and Tier 3 System Engineer.
  • Thorough knowledge of Office 365 along with Microsoft Exchange 2016 and 2019.
  • Expertise in Email Journaling solutions.
  • Strong skills in Scripting/Automation, especially using Exchange PowerShell or similar languages.
  • Ability to tackle complex issues through sound technical knowledge and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in migrating between on-prem Exchange and M365 Exchange Online.
  • Proficient in time management and capable of working independently within an IT Service Management ticketing system (ServiceNow).
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with experience presenting to senior government and military personnel.
  • Strong leadership abilities to guide and develop team capabilities.
  • A proven track record of effective teamwork and a proactive approach to process improvements.
  • Ability to triage incidents and prioritize workload efficiently.
  • In-depth experience in planning, deploying, and documenting updates and patches.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Disaster Recovery for High Availability in large environments.
  • Skills in log reviews, incident evaluation, and spotting trends in issues.
  • Familiarity with server patch management methods utilizing SCCM.
  • Candidates must meet DoDM 8140.03 requirements (previously DoD 8570)-valid IT System Admin Intermediate certification is mandatory (e.g., Cloud+, GICSP, SSCP, Security+ CE, GSEC, or higher).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Microsoft Certifications such as MCSE or MCSA.
  • Experience with SAN block storage for VMware servers.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting in a McAfee/Trellix security environment.
  • Familiarity with backup and restore practices using solutions like NetBackup or VMware snapshots.
Education Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of experience, an Associate's degree with 14+ years, or a Master's Degree with 10+ years of relevant experience is required. A minimum of 12 additional years of experience may substitute for a bachelor's degree.
Clearance Requirements:
  • Due to the nature of our government contracts, US Citizenship is mandated.
  • TS/SCI clearance with a specific polygraph is required for the position or a willingness to obtain and maintain TS/SCI with a specific polygraph.

Pay Range: $126,100.00 - $227,950.00

This pay range is intended as a guideline and not a guarantee of compensation. Other factors considered when extending an offer include job responsibilities, education, and experience, as well as internal equity and market data.
