Job Title: Central Lab Microbiology Manager

Location: Lenexa, KS

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Microbiology Manager to oversee laboratory operations and ensure high-quality diagnostic testing. This role requires a leader with strong microbiology expertise and the ability to manage both technical and non-technical resources in a high-volume, central laboratory environment. The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership skills, a deep understanding of regulatory requirements, and a passion for advancing laboratory services.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day microbiology lab operations, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Oversee and mentor laboratory staff, providing coaching, training, and professional development opportunities.
  • Manage resource utilization, including payroll, supplies, and operational expenses, to optimize efficiency.
  • Ensure timely and accurate test results for hospitals, physician practices, and other healthcare clients.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop strategies for process improvement and operational excellence.
  • Screen, interview, and select qualified candidates for open positions within the department.
  • Foster a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement within the lab.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable laboratory regulations and accreditation requirements.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and assist in strategic planning for the lab division.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related field required.
  • Certification: NAACLS Accredited Certification (ASCP, AMT, etc.) required.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of supervisory or management experience in a high-volume microbiology lab.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Some travel within the division may be required.
