CNO Financial Group's Marketing Team is hiring a Manager, Event Marketing who will manage a team of planners and specialists to plan and execute 35+ enterprise events and meetings by ensuring all areas of process are seamless for the internal and external clients. The Manager, Event Marketing will report to the Director, Event Marketing.
As a Manager, Event Marketing, your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a team of 3 to plan and execute 35 enterprise events by ensuring that all areas of meeting production, site/venue research and selection, cost analysis of each meeting, attendee registration, travel coordination, correspondence with venues/attendees/speakers, activity registration, budget management, bill processing and payment, on-site coordination, and billing reconciliation are completed (where necessary depending on event).
- Plan, produce and finalize (at a minimum of 3 per year) company meetings by executing all areas of meeting production, site/venue research and selection, cost analysis of each meeting, attendee registration, travel coordination, correspondence with venues/attendees/speakers, activity registration, budget management, bill processing and payment, on-site coordination, and billing reconciliation.
- Assisting the Director of Event Marketing in assigning planners and specialists to various enterprise meeting and events.
- Attending and participating in planning meetings along with Director of Event Marketing for major enterprise events (50 - 1200ppl) to help coach team and ensure teams are on track to meet milestones/goals for events.
- Creating and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the department.
- Partnering with various business unit owners and event owners on a regular basis or as needed to facilitate open communication to build trust of department and to allow for direct feedback on events and staff.
- Negotiating and reviewing contracts with hotels, venues, restaurants, and outside vendors for specific needs of each meeting for major events (150 - 1000ppl) that are in the best interest of CNO Financial Group and business unit specific events.
- Attending travel agent QBRs and reviewing QBR documents.
- Participating in educational industry events to enhance knowledge of the industry and current industry trends.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including travel and weekend/overtime work.
The Manager, Event Marketing position is well-suited for you if you:
- Have a strong understanding of meeting planning operations, integrated event marketing, and project management.
- Can manage a team, set goals, delegate responsibilities and hold a team accountable.
- Are highly organized, detail focused, results-driven, ability to handle stress and last-minute, urgent requests.
- Have strong interpersonal, verbal & written communication skills to influence internal & external - vendors, speakers audiences.
- Have demonstrated experience in event budgeting and vendor management including gift vendors, airline and A/V vendors.
What you'll need:
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Marketing, Communications, or related field; or equivalent.
- Typically requires a minimum of 5 years' experience managing corporate meetings and incentive events.
- Dexterity for prolonged periods- required to stand, walk, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Able to travel up to 10 days in length, including weekends and after business hours. Some international travel is required.
What will set you apart:
- Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation.
- Experience with Cvent or other event technology and tools.
- Prior experience in the Financial Services industry.

The preferred location for this position is within a 60 mile radius of our Chicago Corporate office.
