Confidential Opening: Metrology Technician (Pharma Contract Role)

Location: Melrose Park, IL

Schedule: 1st Shift (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)

Compensation: $30-$45/hr (flexible for the right candidate)

Type: 3-6 month contract with potential for long-term extension or full-time hire (no guarantees)

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform calibrations for instruments measuring temperature, pressure, and weight
  • Conduct visual inspections of calibration tools (e.g., SPRT probes) before use
  • Travel to production areas with calibration equipment and document results
  • Follow SOPs and GDP standards for all procedures
  • Collaborate with senior technicians and Quality teams to maintain compliance
  • Potentially support data entry in the Calibration Management system over time

What They're Looking For

Must-Have:

  • 1-3+ years of experience in a calibration, metrology, or related technical role
  • Experience in a pharmaceutical or regulated industry (medical device acceptable)
  • Understanding of FDA regulations, GDP, and SOP compliance
  • Ability to troubleshoot calibration equipment and instrumentation
  • Strong organizational skills and comfort in a fast-paced environment

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Calibration Management software
  • Familiarity with equipment such as pH meters, balances, autoclaves, HPLC systems, sterilizers, and temperature/pressure sensors
  • Applied Electronics or Engineering degree

  • Maintain the calibration procedures, calibration records, calibration standards
  • Track all instruments' calibration status using calibration software
  • Arrange for external calibration of equipment at certified calibration laboratory
  • Arrange for external calibration of equipment at certified calibration laboratory's as required based upon in-house calibration abilities and mandated external calibration requirements
  • Select and maintain calibration standards
  • Perform calibration data entry and report generation including calibration certificates
  • Locate and create calibration procedures
  • Develop and update calibration procedures
  • Installing and removing equipment for repair or calibration
  • Producing schedule for gage calibration
  • Coordinate outside sources for calibration
  • Maintain accurate calibration records and reports in calibration management data base
  • Perform data entry relating to calibration service into calibration tracking software
  • Prepare calibration reports and certificates
  • Perform inspection and calibration duties
  • Maintain/manage calibration system labels
  • Procure and schedules external calibration
  • Generate reports and create accurate calibration specific data using calibration software
  • Perform calibration of equipment in all facilities
  • Prepare calibration certificate, data reports, and maintain electronic calibration database
