Essential Functions:
- Use practical and solid theoretical knowledge to maintain laboratory and other pharmaceutical manufacturing instrumentation and pharmaceutical manufacturing instrumentation and equipment to within industry and pharmacopeial regulatory standards.
- Perform audits from a quality control perspective to ensure accuracy of data and compliance to SOPs and cGMP.
- Perform cGMP pharmaceutical backups, data integrity checks, and disaster recovery on all systems in compliance with CFT, Part 11.
- Learn and perform various traditional building and equipment maintenance tasks and functions for the Facilities Department.
- Identify and independently solve technical problems, providing follow up to management. Assist peers with troubleshooting, training and knowledge-sharing to solve problems.
- Support engineering in various qualifications and validations.
- Represent Afton Scientific as the subject matter expert for all instrument issues internally and to clients.
- Support manufacturing operations (sterile/aseptic) by ensuring equipment instrument calibrations are performed at point of use.
- Perform maintenance testing and calibration on scales, gauges, thermometers, manufacturing, and laboratory equipment.
- Assist with investigations related to instrument failures.
Requirements for Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required. Degree in Chemistry, Engineering or related area preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a calibration technician in the pharmaceutical industry required, 5 years preferred.
- Prior experience using LIMS preferred.
- Previous experience in pharmaceutical production (aseptic/sterile environment) preferred.
- Must have basic computer skills (including MS Word, Excel) with an aptitude to learn other database software.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to sit, stand, bend, and move about in the confined spaces of a laboratory environment in close proximity to others with a range of physical mobility that allows proper equipment analysis and instrument monitoring function.
- Some exposure to heat and cold as is requisite with pharmaceutical production.
