SUMMARY: The METRC and Inventory Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance with cannabis regulations through meticulous management of inventory records, transfers, and transactions within the METRC system. This role involves daily inventory counts, auditing, reporting, and maintaining accuracy across cultivation and distribution operations. Additional responsibilities include coordinating testing, ensuring compliance oversight, operational collaboration, and preparing documentation for audits and inspections. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, adaptability, and collaboration to maintain efficient and compliant operations in a dynamic cannabis industry environment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (This list is not intended to be all-inclusive) Maintains accurate inventory records and transactions in Metrc, ensuring compliance with state and local regulations. Monitors track-and-trace data and updates tracking software daily to maintain compliance with DCC regulations. Conducts regular inventory audits and physical counts to reconcile discrepancies and ensure accurate recordkeeping. Prepares and submits timely and accurate compliance reports as required. Performs daily physical inventory counts for propagation, flowering greenhouses, and distribution warehouses. Tracks and inventories clones, ensuring real-time updates in tracking software. Performs cycle counts and audits plant movements across veg, clone, and flowering stages, ensuring accuracy in tracking software. Verifies final crop counts before harvest to ensure accurate harvest data in the tracking system. Updates tracking software for plant tag destruction, notifying management of plant waste to ensure regulatory compliance. Reviews records for plants removed from rows and ensures accurate updates in inventory. Applies lot tracking labels to plants for seed-to-sale traceability. Weighs and records package information in tracking software for accurate inventory data. Reconciles tracking software with physical inventory counts weekly or as required. Manages inventory intake, storage, and release in compliance with DCC regulations. Ensures proper labeling, packaging, and storage of cannabis products per safety and regulatory standards. Reduces waste and improves operations through efficient inventory management systems. Prepares and packages samples for quality control and compliance testing, ensuring proper documentation and transfers. Supports product testing, recalls, and destruction reporting to maintain compliance. Fulfills orders accurately according to SOPs, including: Pulling and quality-checking packages. Verifying weight and information in both physical and software systems. Managing material transfers and generating accurate manifests in tracking software. Coordinates with processing and distribution teams for effective product shipments. Ensures timely adjustments to shipments per Metrc and DCC guidelines. Collaborates with vendors, clients, and internal teams to maintain smooth distribution operations. Generates inventory and compliance reports for management and regulatory reviews. Maintains complete and accurate documentation for storage, transfers, and product handling. Cleans and maintains equipment, tools, and supplies to ensure audit readiness.Supports deliveries as needed, maintaining a valid driver's license and insurability. Executes Ad Hoc Projects as assigned by direct supervisor PERFONMANCE REQUIREMENTS: (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Must have a basic understanding of cannabis laws, rules, and regulations set forth by the state and local authorities. Ability to be flexible and work in various sectors of the department as needed and/or requested by their direct supervisor; this may include but is not limited to, helping other departments. Skill in analyzing potential problems with a plant or the product being cultivated; "coded product." Shows self-motivation/innovation and the ability to work well with all staff members, vendors, customers, as well as to work well independently. Communicates interacts and works effectively with others; receptive to feedback and coaching; voices concern in a constructive manner. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS and WORKING CONDITIONS Regularly required to perform carrying, grasping, lifting, walking, standing, some bending/crouching, stooping, stretching, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to stand for extended periods while maintaining focus. Ability to move around uneven terrain. Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and balance up to 50 lbs. (100 lbs. with assistance) and must be able to do so with extreme care and caution when working with plants and products. Work is performed in fast-paced cannabis grow location. Work is performed inside warehouse facilities, freezers, or greenhouses. Work is subject to weather conditions, including rain and extreme hot or cold temperatures. May require working rotating shifts with varied hours/day, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: High School Education or GED graduate; some college or college graduate preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and have intermediate accounting and math skills. Ability to anticipate and correct potential problems by regularly assessing and updating protocols. Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred. Demonstrated ability to utilize Microsoft Excel, Google Spreadsheet, and Google Docs. Drive and deliver product as needed: must maintain a valid drivers license and be insurable Must be a minimum of 21 years old per state regulations and pass a criminal background check.
