The primary responsibility of the M&A Analyst is to deliver qualified, available, and interested M&A prospects to our clients in a designated timeframe and represent the client's organization when identifying prospects to present to the investment authorities at the client. They assist CATS leadership internally as well as clients and prospects externally, connecting client investment authorities with attractive privately-owned proprietary prospects. The M&A Analyst conducts a thorough 11-step process to identify, qualify, and introduce prospects to clients that engage the firm's services.

Essential Functions:

Research: Work with a project team to complete a thorough analysis of the client, project requirements, competitors, networks, associations, and other targeted companies. Use resources to identify an actionable list of contacts for each search; maintain and build a prospect network system; and conduct industry/company research.


Sourcing and qualifying prospects: Develop and deliver a compelling presentation for each engagement to present to potential prospects on behalf of a client. Strategically identify prospects of the appropriate size and in the right sector via telephone calls and interactions. Identify the best matches to the core criteria specified by the client. Collect appropriate initial diligence material. Collaborate with CATS leadership to prepare selected prospects and coordinate introductions with clients. Provide prompt prospect follow-up and support throughout the process.


Goal setting: Participate in goal and objective setting to meet client objectives.


Delivers high-quality service to customers by matching appropriate prospects with client's preferences.


Develops and retains business by providing outstanding customer service based on identified clients sourcing needs.


Performs a variety of light diligence duties that support the overall mission of quality performance and service for clients.


Performs a variety of sourcing, planning & light diligence tasks unique to each specific customer account.


Manages the engagement management process from receiving to completing an engagement.


Asks the appropriate questions during new engagement intake.


Comprehends complex engagements.


Respond to and qualify engagements efficiently.


Analyze business traits accurately.


Enters information accurately while maintaining and updating the existing computer database.


Interview prospects to evaluate their fit with the client's preferences.


Build professional relationships with customers, potential prospects, and staff.


Required Education and Experience:

  • College degree (MBA preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience in a customer contact role (telephone sales, staffing or recruiting experience preferred) with a solid phone presence.
  • M&A and/or integration experience preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Excel and PowerPoint
