Project Manager Decarbonisation Projects (Wales)

Working on behalf of a major energy and infrastructure delivery partner to NHS Wales

Mech Electrics are working in partnership with a long-established M&E client at the forefront of public sector decarbonisation. They are playing a lead role in delivering progressive, sustainable upgrades across NHS sites in Wales with investment planned across a 10+ year horizon.

This is a career-defining opportunity to contribute to the decentralisation and modernisation of Wales public healthcare infrastructure through structured, long-term capital works.

The Role

As Project Manager, you'll take ownership of works packages on a regionally focused site within the Hywel Dda University Health Board area. These projects will evolve over time, beginning with immediate low-carbon measures and progressing toward full energy centre solutions.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of energy efficiency and infrastructure upgrade projects (typically £7 8M).

  • Oversee subcontractor performance and on-site project coordination.

  • Manage stakeholder relationships and communicate progress to the client team.

  • Work alongside design, estimating and operational leads during IGP/pre-construction phases.

  • Ensure adherence to NHS guidelines, H&S legislation, and public sector protocols.

  • Input into long-term planning as the programme evolves (e.g. heat pumps, solar integration, de-steaming, etc.).

What We re Looking For:

  • A Project Manager with strong mechanical or electrical bias and experience on public sector or complex building services projects.

  • Prior exposure to decarbonisation, healthcare, or energy centre schemes beneficial.

  • Excellent communication and programme management skills.

  • Based in or willing to travel to West/North Wales as required.

These are long-term roles, designed to deliver across multiple stages from early wins like LED/insulation upgrades through to the transformation of how NHS Wales consumes and generates energy.
