Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented MEP Estimator to join our team at a leading Commercial General Contractor. This role will be responsible for gathering, calculating, and compiling data to produce project estimates. The MEP Estimator will prepare the full estimate independently. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively with a diverse team and manage multiple tasks while contributing to the successful execution of commercial construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed project estimates for MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems for commercial construction projects.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and material summaries.
- Request and evaluate trade partner bids, including time projections, to prepare vendor proposal comparisons and estimate summary sheets.
- Assist in preparing, organizing, and coordinating Request for Proposal (RFP) documents and schedules, utilizing project schedule information.
- Participate in plan reviews, estimate review meetings, and site investigations as needed.
- Support the lead estimator in gathering relevant project information, such as government permits, hearings, or other factors that may impact the project.
- Maintain Addendum logs and documentation from customers or clients.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to new Estimators and Engineers joining the team.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with team members, trade partners, and clients.
Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Estimating, Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 1 year of construction operations experience, including exposure to materials management and project operations, preferably in commercial construction.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Proficient in estimation software tools (e.g., ISqFt, ICE/Bid2Win, On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, Google Earth).
- Strong mathematical abilities and familiarity with construction/estimating techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- A positive attitude and a strong customer service approach.
