MedStar Health is seeking an Outpatient LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device) Nurse Practitioner to join our dynamic cardiovascular team at Washington Hospital Center. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in the management and follow-up care of patients with LVADs, ensuring optimal patient outcomes and enhancing the quality of life for patients with advanced heart failure.
Monday - Friday, 4 10-hour shifts. No call, nights, weekends, or holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive outpatient care for patients with LVADs, including assessment, monitoring, and management of potential complications.
- Perform thorough patient evaluations, including history taking, physical examinations, and review of relevant diagnostic tests.
- Collaborate with cardiologists, surgeons, and nursing staff to create and implement individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and their families about LVAD therapy, device function, and self-management strategies.
- Conduct routine follow-up visits, including device checks and addressing any patient concerns or inquiries.
- Manage medications, including adjustments, refills, and monitoring for side effects or drug interactions.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss complex cases and enhance care coordination.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records (EMR).
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in LVAD technology and best practices in heart failure management.

This position has a hiring range of $115,000/Annually - $143,615/Annually
