East Bay Community Action Program is hiring for a full-time Medical Receptionist. The Medical Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients, clients, and visitors at our healthcare center. This position is responsible for creating a welcoming, professional atmosphere while efficiently managing front desk operations, including patient registration, appointment scheduling, and communication support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Answer multi-line phone system and direct calls appropriately
  • Provide general information about services, procedures, and policies
  • Respond to basic inquiries from patients, providers, and other departments
  • Schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments using the electronic scheduling system
  • Maintain provider schedules and coordinate with clinical teams
  • Document appointment details accurately in the electronic health record
  • Greet and welcome all patients, clients, and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner
  • Verify patient eligibility for services and collect appropriate payments and co-pays
  • Ensure all patients complete necessary consent forms and acknowledgments
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times
  • Assist with administrative projects as assigned
  • Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field preferred
  • Ability to work an assigned schedule with as needed flexibility for coverage between the hours of 7:30am - 8:00pm.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a customer service role in a healthcare setting
  • Experience with electronic health records and scheduling systems
  • Demonstrated competency in multi-line phone systems and general office equipment
  • Medical terminology certification preferred
  • Familiarity with health insurance verification processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
