We are seeking a Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist to support the Department of Defense in Frederick, MD. Position contingent upon contract award.

KEY TASKS
(1) Serve as certified Medical Laboratory Scientist performing complex and general clinical pathology laboratory testing
(2) Responsible for maintenance, operation, and quality assurance and quality control aspects of all clinical laboratory equipment and tests
(3) Develop and learn new techniques when required and independently carry out clinical pathology laboratory support.
(4) Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot all equipment and tests associated with animal clinical pathology mission in accordance with applicable SOPs and GLP guidelines.
(5) Perform and oversee animal clinical pathology mission as the primary point of contact (POC) to include daily laboratory operations supporting research programs and testing of NHP colony management specimens.
(6) Perform microbiological and related biological and biochemical examinations on clinical and environmental specimens for the detection and identification of microbial agents of disease.
(7) Perform hematological, chemistry, and coagulation tests of blood samples, including preparing blood smears and urinalysis testing, and to include generating sediment preparations.
(8) Provide oversight and review of animal clinical pathology test results and procedures.
(9) Assist in research, planning and evaluation of alternate testing methods and procedures, assist with training of laboratory or other related personnel
(10) Prepare animal clinical pathology laboratories for GLP audits and inspections by other regulatory agencies.
(11) Assist in the preparation of technical reports, standard operating procedures, and manuscripts relating to their research efforts.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
(1) Minimum of bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, Microbiology, or related discipline
(2) Certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist by a nationally recognized accreditation agency (ASCP or AMT)
(3) Experience working in a high throughput diagnostic clinical pathology laboratory (e.g., referral laboratory, hospital, etc.) or research setting
(4) Relevant clinical lab experience in chemistry, hematology, and urinalysis, coagulation, infectious diseases, and/or microbiology
(5) Must be willing and able to perform clinical pathology testing in BSL-3 and/or BSL-4 containment, which requires eligibility and enrollment in the Biological Personnel Reliability Program (BPRP) and the Controlled Substance Personnel Reliability Program (CS-PRP)
(6) US citizenship as per contract requirements to pass background check and obtain required security (secret) clearance
