We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to support these efforts in the Advanced Analytical Technologies (AAT) division at a Department of Defense laboratory in Frederick, MD Position contingent upon contract award.

The Contractor Shall:
- Conduct hematology, chemistry, coagulation, microbiology, urinalysis, and bio-chemical testing on clinical and environmental specimens, including for nonhuman primates (NHPs).
- Work safely and effectively in BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4 environments, following all biosafety and regulatory protocols.
- Perform quality assurance and control procedures, equipment validations, and maintain detailed records and logs in compliance with GLP SOPs and ASVCP QALs guidelines
- Troubleshoot, clean, and maintain laboratory instruments and work areas; track supply inventories and support ordering as needed.
- Participate in infectious disease research studies involving laboratory animals, including pre- and post-exposure sample processing, analysis, and reporting.
- Accurately evaluate, interpret, and document lab results; generate reports, summaries, and contribute to SOPs and technical publications.
- Help prepare for GLP audits and inspections, ensuring the lab complies with 21 CFR Part 58 and institutional SOPs.
- Provide backfill support to related lab activities such as aerosol assisting, plethysmography, and animal assays as needed.
- Participate in team meetings, communicate technical information to veterinarians and scientists, and deliver oral presentations when required.
- Report safety issues or deviations from SOPs, and maintain enrollment in the Biological Personnel Reliability Program (BPRP) throughout the assignment.
Qualification Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field
- At least 7 years of post-graduate experience in a clinical pathology or diagnostic lab
- Certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist by ASCP or AMT
- Experience in hematology, chemistry, and urinalysis; coagulation and microbiology experience preferred
- BSL-3 or BSL-4 lab experience and familiarity with GLP principles highly preferred
- Willingness and ability to work in BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4 biocontainment labs required
- Requires eligibility and enrollment in the Biological Personnel Reliability Program (BPRP)
- US citizenship as per contract requirements to pass background check and obtain required security clearance
