Medical LAB Scientist

POSITION SUMMARY Independently performs various qualitative, quantitative clinical laboratory testing and quality control in all section(s) of the laboratory: i.e., microbiology, chemistry, blood bank, hematology, and phlebotomy/urinalysis. All activities performed are in accordance with established policies, procedures and standards. Tech must be a team player with good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. The above level of knowledge, skills and abilities are normally acquired through the successful of an Associate or Bachelor degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related science required and an ASCP, NCA or equivalent certification. Recent graduates of Medical laboratory technology are considered ASCP-eligible and will be considered for hire. If hired, new graduates will be required to pass the ASCP examination within a year after graduation. Laboratory computer knowledge and skills preferred. Experience in performance of lab duties preferred, but not required. QUALIFICATION EDUCATION: A.S. - Medical Laboratory Technologist, required. Copy of highest degree earned (diploma) or transcripts is required. EXPERIENCE/SKILL SETS: 1 year or more preferred, not required. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION(S): MT (ASCP) or equivalent or ASCP eligible if new graduate (see above).
