Level 3Apprenticeship Medical electronic Engineering Fixed Term for 4 Years
Support service installations and their maintenance are an essentialpart of the NHS and form a vital link in Health Care Provision. Employed by CHoICE, a wholly ownedcompany of the South Tyneside & Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust, the sucessful applicant will study towardsand completion of the Healthcare Engineering Specialist Technician (option 1)apprentice standard through a tailored training plan in partnership withthe Northern & Yorkshire NHS Assessment Centre (NYNHSAS).
Theprecise details of any of the apprenticeship are dependent on several factorsthat may be subject to change at various stages of the training andqualifications already obtained, however, the information below will provide anoverview of the envisaged training requirements of the apprenticeship.
The successful applicant will be released to college to allow them tostudy for the technical knowledge aspect of the apprenticeship, it is typicalthat this is achieved over one day / evening per week for the first two yearsof the role. Practical basic skills training will be achieved via block releasefor approximately 8 months during the first year of the apprenticeship, whichonce achieved, will allow the apprentice to commence training towards their EndPoint Assessment to achieve their full Apprenticeship Standard which will takeplace within the Employing organisation and NYNHSAC.
Main duties of the job
Thesuccessful applicant will attend a College to study for the technical knowledgeaspect of the apprenticeship for example one day / evening a week for the firsttwo years and practical basic skills training as a block release forapproximately 8 months. Once this has been achieved, the applicant will thencommence training towards their End Point Assessment to achieve the requiredfull Apprenticeship Standard, this will typically take place within theEmploying organisation and NYNHSAC.
Theapprenticeship will potentially commence during the week commencing 25thAugust 2025 subject to all necessary funding and employment checks beingcarried out, including a colour blindness test. Qualifications acceptable onentry are usually a minimum ofGCSE at Grade B / 5 in Mathematics and Grade C / 4, or equivalent, in at least4 other subjects to include a science based subject.

Person Specification Disposition

Knowledge
- An aptitude and interest in the practical and theoretical study of engineering
- Have an understanding of relevant health and safety issues
