BLUE MOUNTAIN CLINIC OVERVIEW
Blue Mountain Clinic (BMC) is a mission-driven 501(c)3 non-profit which has provided comprehensive, person-centered healthcare services to the Missoula community and surrounding region for over 46 years. We are an independent family practice healthcare clinic that provides abortion and contraceptive care, gynecological care, STI testing, treatment, and prevention. BMC was established in 1977 as Montana s first abortion provider. We are a dedicated team of 20 full-time/part-time staff members, including 2 advanced practice clinicians, one registered nurse, four medical assistants, and administrative staff. Abortion care remains legal in Montana.

JOB SUMMARY
Blue Mountain Clinic seeks to hire a Medical Director who is a practicing Family Medicine Physician or Complex Family Planning Physician to join our incredible team. The Medical Director is responsible for providing and ensuring the provision of high-quality healthcare services by Blue Mountain Clinic in alignment with our mission of providing comprehensive and evidence-based sexual and reproductive healthcare services in a compassionate and empowering environment to all persons who seek it. The Medical Director will supervise a clinical team of clinicians and medical assistants and will work closely with and report to the Executive Director.

We seek a compassionate physician to provide the full range of reproductive health care, including abortion, to lead our clinical team with strong management and supervision skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical

Provide patient-centered, evidence-based, and high-quality primary health care services for patients of all ages and backgrounds, including but not limited to:

  • Procedural and medication abortion; add asynchronous meds by mail program (can do contraception as well)
  • Contraception: (same day appts); IUDs, Nexplanon, free EC
  • Gynecology: pelvic exams, pap smears, colposcopy, LEEP, pelvic pain, sexual function, menopause, menstrual health, endometriosis
  • STI testing, treatment, prevention
  • Male sexual and reproductive health (including vasectomy care: preferred but not required)
    • Urgent gyn appts UTIs, yeast infections, pain, etc.

Supervisory and Leadership

  • Supervise clinical team
    • Responsible for supervisory function, including hiring, evaluations, merit increase recommendations, reward and discipline, skills training, and scheduling, assigning and directing work, addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Review and analyze clinical activities and data to improve operational and service delivery
  • Lead the development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures
  • Oversee quality management, including areas of improvement and compliance, credentialing, and provider performance reviews
  • Facilitate professional review of the clinical services delivered to assure compliance with the local, state, and federal regulations
  • Lead monthly clinician/provider meetings
  • Actively participate in and contribute to Blue Mountain s Clinics growing leadership team
  • Participate in monthly all-staff meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
  • Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Complex Family Planning Board Certification
  • Completed a residency/training program in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Complex Family Planning
    • Complex Family Planning Fellowship preferred
  • Active, non-probationary, Montana State license and DEA
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain credentials as a Medicaid and Medicare provider

EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a healthcare provider
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience managing professional clinical staff, including setting and maintaining clear and consistent standards of staff performance
  • Experience providing health care services to diverse populations, including lower income and marginalized communities
