The Medical Director provides medical leadership necessary to achieve mission and objectives in collaboration with the Director of Nursing and staff. He/she supports the policies, rules and regulations of the facility. Assists with the overall medical quality management of the facility, providing leadership and guidance for physicians, allied staff, and the facility's support staff.
Responsibilities:
Supervises and evaluates medical treatment provided in the program for all patients.
Meets with the Treatment Team to discuss each patient admitted and treatment being provided; signs off on approved treatment plans/reviews.
Collaborates with attending medical staff (at least weekly) to discuss patients, treatment team's recommendations, and program integrity.
Meets with the Director of Nursing (at least weekly) to discuss planning and development of in-service and educational training for staff. Provides in-service at least monthly, for staff and/or community.
Meets with the Director of Nursing and medical staff (at least weekly) to discuss new program track, maintenance of existing tracks and overall program development.
Provides on-site medical supervision of medical staff
Provides emergency coverage after hours, as needed.
Collaborates with other facility directors to discuss Performance Improvement findings, problems, and program issues, on a monthly basis.
Develops and implements action plans, as needed, to correct problems or issues defined.
Assists in periodic review and revision of policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
Assists in ensuring State and Federal regulations, and JCAHO standards are met and maintained.
Maintains a professional atmosphere both on the telephone and in the facility.
Education/Experience/Licensure:
Minimum of Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Addiction Medicine from an accredited Medical School or School of Osteopathic Medicine
3 years of experience in a Detox/Residential setting
Licensed to practice medicine (MD or DO) in appropriate state
Knowledge of the Principles and Practices of the discipline
Knowledge of Joint Commission Standards.
