Job Title: Billing Support Representative

  • Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire
  • Hourly Rate: $22-24/hour
  • Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
  • Location: Fully Remote (MUST BE OKAY WITH PACIFIC STANDARD TIMEZONE)
  • Must have 2 years of medical billing or insurance verification experience.
  • Must have experience with high volume phone calls/customer service skills
  • Must have high school diploma
  • Huge plus- Bilingual- English and Spanish

Job Summary:

The Billing Support Representative serves as the primary contact for billing inquiries from patients, clients, and payors. This role involves providing comprehensive support related to billing, including communicating estimated out-of-pocket costs, assisting with payment options, quoting pricing, collecting payments, and reviewing patient correspondence. This is an entry-level position designed for individuals who are new to the industry and still developing their skills under supervisory guidance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely and professional support to clients and patients.
  • Use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to resolve billing issues.
  • Manage inbound requests across multiple communication channels and direct inquiries appropriately.
  • Correspond with patients via phone, email, chat, or text to obtain and provide necessary billing information.
  • Accurately document client, patient, and payor interactions within the system.
  • Review, identify, and process relevant documents efficiently.
  • Understand and respond to frequently asked questions regarding products and processes.
  • Handle patient and client inquiries, ensuring one-touch resolution whenever possible.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in:
  • a. Organizing and attaching documents to cases.
  • b. Direct client communication in real-time.
  • c. Coordinating with internal departments.
  • d. Applying preliminary billing and insurance knowledge.
  • e. Communicating intermediate knowledge of products and systems internally.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Knowledge:

  • High school diploma or higher (Bachelor's degree preferred but not required).
  • Prior experience in healthcare or clinical laboratory preferred.
  • Familiarity with CPT & ICD-10 codes, medical terminology, and insurance processes.
