A health services agency in New York City is currently seeking a new Medical Billing & Coding Specialist to join their growing Outpatient team in Queens.
About the Opportunity:
- Start Date: ASAP
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 9am to 5pm
- Setting: Office
Responsibilities:
- Review claims and follow-up accordingly, from claim submission until final payment
- Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim denials or underpayments
- Utilize the Payer Online Portals for claims status and eligibility verification
- Send medical records to payers, filing reconsiderations and appeals
- Post payments and write off balances, when necessary
- Follow up on Pre-negotiated Agreements, Single Case Agreements and Authorizations
- Review and verify accuracy of billing data
- Ensure compliance with all relevant coding and billing regulations
- Effectively resolve complex issues, including payment research, payment recoupments.
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in Collections and/or a related role
- High School Diploma / GED
- Experience in Billing and/or a related field
- Knowledge of FQHC, OASAS Article 32, Article 28 & 31 billing rules and compliance
- Experience working with Medical Billing software
- Microsoft Office proficient
- Solid problem solving and time management skills
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly organized
Desired Skills:
- Associate's and/or Bachelor's Degree
- Working knowledge of NextGen Enterprise
