ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW: The Achievable Foundation is a nonprofit Federal Qualified
Community Health Center serving the needs of the low-income, uninsured, or underinsured community in
Los Angeles. The main focus of our mission is addressing the unique health care needs of individuals
with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

SALARY: $22.00 - $24.00 DOE. Benefits: medical, dental, vision, chiro, life insurance, EAP and 403B

POSITION OVERVIEW

As an integral member of The Achievable Foundation's Patient Revenue Services team, the Medical
Biller is responsible for processing all charges submitted by providers, in an accurate and timely
manner, as well as reviewing and correcting denials.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Knowledge of My Health LA, Medicare, Medi-Cal, HMO, PPO, etc.
Enter all charges, payments, credits, and adjustments by payer, in a timely basis
Ensure that all conditions for claim submission have been satisfied
ICD-10 and CPT-4 coding
Follow-up with insurance carriers on unpaid claims
Understand and apply the Sliding Fee Discount Program, as appropriate
Answer billing and insurance questions from patients, staff and insurance companies
Identify and resolve patient billing complaints
Maintain strictest confidentiality; adhering to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations
Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Minimum 1 to 3 years medical billing experience in a medical practice, clinic or hospital setting.

Prior FQHC experience, a plus
Medical coding training certification, preferred
Working knowledge: medical terminology, abbreviations, ICD-10, CM and CPT coding rules,
HMO's, IPA's, PPO's and Medicare/Medicaid billing procedures and regulations.

Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
Experience working with EHR required. Greenway Intergy experience, a plus.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to work independently
