A health services network in New York City is currently seeking a new, certified Medical Assistant (MA) for a promising Internal Medicine position with their staff in Queens. In this role, the Internal Medicine Medical Assistant (MA) will be responsible for providing administrative and clinical support.
About the Opportunity:

- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 8am to 5pm or 6pm
Responsibilities:
- Warmly greet and engage patients; answer telephones in a professional manner
- Check-in patients and prepare and processes appropriate forms; check-out patients at the end of the visit and verify that patients have all required documentation prior to leaving the medical facility
- Complete all necessary documents for all payments accrued; perform accurate end of day reconciliations
- Assist the Care teams with campaigns/initiatives, such as the Influenza program and the health outcome survey and closing gaps in care
- Perform a variety of patient care functions, including physical examination preparation, personal history/medications/allergies recording in the EMR, vital signs, phlebotomy, heights, weights, finger sticks, electrocardiograms, head circumference measurements, vision and hearing screening, set up oxygen and suction, pulse oximetry, peak flow testing
- Document pertinent patient care information in the electronic medical record
- Collect and accurately label specimens
- Assist with various medical procedures, as required, e.g., sigmoidoscopies, colposcopies, and biopsies consistent with the NY State Nursing Guide to Practice (NYSEDOP).
- Perform other duties, as required
Qualifications:
- 1+ year of experience in a Medical Assistant (MA) in an Ambulatory Care setting
- High School Diploma / GED
- Certificate of completion from an accredited Medical Assistant (MA) program required or eligibility to sit for the national certification exam and pass the exam within 18 months of hire
- Working knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (EMRs)
- Solid assessment, clinical, and documentation skillls
