Patients with an orthopedic or sports-related injury to muscles, bones or joints can receive same-day care at a Mass General Brigham Community Physicians Orthopedics Walk-in located at 500 Merrimac Street, Lawrence, 01843. Our walk-in location is staffed by expertly trained clinicians, providing physical examinations, diagnostic imaging (including x-rays), and comprehensive evaluations to ensure fast, accurate diagnosis and treatment that puts you on the road to recovery as soon as possible.

Job Summary

We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Medical Assistant to support the Ortho Walk-In Clinic located at 500 Merrimac Street in Lawrence. The clinic hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30am-7:30pm, Saturday 8:30am-5:00pm and Sunday 8:30am-3:00pm. Schedules are staggered accordingly, however, it is required to be onsite every other weekend.

As true partners to our Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), our Medical Assistants get the opportunity to work autonomously to the top of their education/certification while also functioning as part of the collaborative team.

Responsibilities include:

Ensuring efficient patient flow through the office
Assisting during office visits (rooming, examinations, procedures, and treatments as directed)
Managing and assisting with Durable Medical Equipment (DME) orders and fitting, ensuring proper documentation and patient education.
Performing clinically appropriate tasks related to patient panel management (phone calls, test results, prescription refill, coordination of care)
Maintaining neat, clean, and safe patient care areas
Interacting with patients and their families in a professional, friendly manner consistent with their needs.
Qualifications

Required:
  • High School diploma/GED
  • Either BLS or Annual Manikin training including CPR and AED after 6 months of hire
Additional Job Details (if applicable)

Strongly Preferred:
  • Medical Assistant Course or diploma program or a minimum of 1-year professional experience
  • National MA Certification via AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT
