Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Medical Assistant.
The medical assistant role entails working collaboratively and under the direction of the office manager and clinic providers in order to provide the highest level of patient care. This position includes a mixture of both administrative/clerical and direct patient care duties. Some days may be fully administrative and clerical and others may be full direct patient care duties.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
1. Confidentiality of any patient information is of utmost importance, ability to maintain this confidentiality.
2. Ability to communicate with patients and co-workers in a friendly, positive, respectful manner. Ability to maintain a professional demeanor, even under pressure. Strong listening, oral and written communication skills. Demonstrate a goal-oriented attitude through words and actions. Effectively utilize available resources to achieve goals. Ability to efficiently handle multiple tasks at one time. Ability to occasionally work evenings, early mornings, and weekends.
3. Willingness to exercise a high degree of diplomacy and tact while multi-tasking, organizing and working with multiple patients.
4. Willingness to obtain influenza vaccinations yearly.
5. Willingness to work in an environment where we take COVID19 precautions and patient safety seriously. We do not mandate the COVID19 vaccination for our employees - it is your choice to vaccinate or note.
6. Excellent phlebotomy skills. Willingness to review best practices in phlebotomy training through the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute published phlebotomy documents which will be provided to you for review.
7. Willingness to train and become proficient with medical testing devices present in the clinic to include, but not limited to, urinalysis point of care, urinalysis machine, INR machine, centrifuge, phlebotomy supplies, EKG machine, spirometry machine, ultrasound machine, audiology testing equipment, vision testing equipment, grip strength equipment, gait analysis equipment, InBody device, vital sign collection devices.
8. BLS certification required by the end of a conditional 90 day period, if this is not in place, we will provide training.
9. Intermediate level knowledge and use of Microsoft Word. Basic level knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel.
10. We use Athena as our EMR (electronic medical record), prior experience with Athena is preferred.
