Job Summary

Homeland is partnering with a dynamic healthcare system to hire a skilled and dedicated Certified Medical Assistant - Pediatrics. In this role, you'll play a key part in supporting patient care under the supervision of nurses, physicians, or other medical providers. Responsibilities include assisting with exams, minor procedures, and various clinical tasks. All duties will follow the Certified Medical Assistant scope of practice as defined by the Washington State Department of Health.


Responsibilities

  • Appropriately triages incoming telephone calls
  • Reviews and organizes patient medical records and exam rooms before appointments
  • Prepares exam rooms, ensuring cleanliness and proper stocking of supplies
  • Takes vital signs and assists patients in getting ready for exams
  • Chaperones during exams and provides assistance as needed
  • Prepares surgical and procedure trays as necessary
  • Accurately and clearly documents in medical records
  • Assesses patients using age-appropriate techniques
  • Explains care plans and procedures to patients
  • Schedules diagnostic tests for patients
  • Discusses options for advanced care directives
  • Evaluates and improves processes to enhance patient care and safety
  • Follows proper infection control procedures
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations and safety policies (e.g., OSHA, CLIA)
  • Respects patient rights; seeks permission before sharing sensitive information
  • Educates patients on preventive care and healthy lifestyle choices
  • Provides guidance on reversing unhealthy habits
  • Follows standard precautions for infection control, including hand hygiene and blood-borne pathogen protocols
  • Willingly takes on all tasks, both routine and challenging
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service and communication with patients and staff
  • Operates computer systems effectively for patient care and communication


Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduation from a certified Medical Assistant program
  • Pediatric experience preferred; strong desire to work with pediatric patients is required
  • Comfortable working with newborns and infants, including administering injections
  • Strong critical thinking and decisive judgment skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Capable of performing well in high-stress environments and responding appropriately
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Licensure: Washington State Medical Assistant - Certified (Interim or Active)
