SUMMARY

Performs accounts payable and accounts receivable functions necessary to process Medicaid room and board invoices received from facilities.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Prepares Rapid Payment Advices and Retro billing according to established procedures.
  • Processes facility invoices or Rapid Payment Advices received by email, mail, and fax according to established billing and accounts payable procedures.
  • Ensures facilities are reimbursed according to contract agreements or Rapid Payment Advice terms.
  • Ensures Rapid Payment Batches are sent to Accounts Payable according to established timeline.
  • Performs monthly follow-up of Medicaid room and board accounts and maintains Days in A/R within ranges established by the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Establishes and maintains professional customer service relationships with the billing staff at facilities.
  • Works collaboratively with Provider Relations Managers to identify and resolve billing, payment, and contracting issues with facilities.
  • Assists Provider Relations Managers with in-services to facilities regarding billing and payment procedures for Medicaid room and board.
  • Assists patients and families and facilities with billing and payment issues.
  • Assists with developing and improving the Medicaid room and board process, with emphasis on the Rapid Payment Advice process.
  • Completes special assignments/projects and other duties as assigned by the Reimbursement Team Leader.
  • Demonstrates effective Service Excellence skills according to agency guidelines.
  • Performs identified back-up functions as assigned by supervisor.


QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERTISE AND KNOWLEDGE


  • Two (2) years' or more experience with processing accounts payable and accounts receivable or comparable accounting work experience (preferably in a healthcare environment).
  • Two (2) or more years' experience with electronic medical records preferred.
  • Experience with Medicaid programs and eligibility requirements preferred.
  • High School diploma.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must demonstrate strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
