Human Mode is an Oklahoma City-based research and technology company focused on advancements in robotics, embodied AI, and XR teleoperation technologies. We are looking for a skilled Mechatronics Engineer with a solid electrical or mechanical engineering background to help us advance our research into production robotic hardware and software applications. Qualified applicants must have the required electrical or mechanical engineering background, a fascination with robots, a love of building, and good collaboration skills.
Responsibilities
- Work on electro-mechanical elements of prototypes and design for complex robots, including legged robots
- Work with the team to quickly build prototypes and proof of concepts to explore design feasibility
- Work on designs that include various mechanical elements, such as motors, gears, servos, sensors, bearings, actuators, etc.
- Make recommendations for sensor/component selection
- Work with other engineers to create a holistic hardware and software design
- Create clear and concise diagrams to communicate with other engineers
- Identify roadblocks in design and provide usable suggestions to mitigate them
- Help prepare test environments and test data
- Assist with designs for controller software as necessary
- Conduct design reviews and take ideas from concept to reality
- Work with the team to take research projects toward production readiness with an eye on cost and durability
- Collaborate with management and the development teams to help projects meet their deadlines
- Assist the company in securing and maintaining patents and other intellectual property
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (EE), Computer Engineering (CE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Robotics, Mechatronics, or related field
- Experience with the development of Motion Control Systems, sensors, motors, gears, bearings, actuators, servo
- Hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, software design, and fabrication
- Proficiency with additive manufacturing, such as 3D printing for prototyping, etc.
- Proficiency with subtractive manufacturing, machining, CNC, etc.
- Proficiency with electronics and PCB design.
- Proficiency with Blender or 3D modeling tools
- Proficiency with 3D modeling CAD software (SolidWorks or Fusion360)
- Knowledge of programming languages like C, C , and Python
- Proficient in using lab equipment for designing, building, and testing
- Detail-oriented with an emphasis on design documentation and summary report generation
- Ability to perform tests on product designs and prototypes, debug systems, and conduct optimization
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic team environment
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship is available for this position
- This is an on-site position that requires the use of some prototyping and fabrication equipment in our robotics shop. Remote work is not available for this position.

- Experience with IMUs and microcontrollers
