Position: Mechanical Field Engineer

Responsibilities:
Facilitate mechanical building system design, startups & commissioning activities.
Provide subject matter expert assistance in review of product and equipment submittals, shop drawings, engineering design drawings and specifications, & contractor generated RFIs
Extensive knowledge of safety procedures, safe work practices, and OSHA requirements for electrical, installations including but not limited to Lock-Out, Electrical Safe Work Practices, Control of Hazardous Energy, & arc flash safety.
Possess extensive knowledge of prevailing building codes and professional industry standards (including but not
limited to: IBC, NEC, NESC, NFPA, ASME, AMCA, ARI, AWS, ASHRAE, FM).
Work with building construction contractors and equipment vendors to coordinate equipment factory testing, delivery, installation, commissioning & handover to end users.
Coordination of weekend and plant shutdown work with contractors, plant facilities groups, & manufacturing shops.
Conduct work progress inspections on a continuous basis.
Support construction administration activities related to schedule coordination, quality confirmations, weekly coordination meetings, and planned utility outages
Conduct inspections and observations of electrical building systems for compliance with project specifications, quality standards, & applicable codes.
Oversee work of electrical contractors for adherence to project delivery methods, schedule milestone targets,
& coordination with other groups.
Prepare field engineering status reports of work progress and schedule to Project Managers.
Provide input and feedback to improve project technical specifications and standards.
Ability to effectively communicate technical matters in written & verbal formats.
Ability to multi-task, manage time, & prioritize project commitments based on established deadlines and project milestones.

5-10 years of experience
Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering is a must. Journeyman industrial mechanic for 10-15 years. (Individual with extensive building construction experience may be considered in lieu of a degree)
Mechanical looks at pipe installation, equip installation, may have a project like we have 10 HVAC to be installed over 8 weeks, etc. Report out any issues on installations, talk with tradesmans, etc. Schedule changes, cost changes, and provide those upstream for solutions. Need an experienced individual; Someone to see and know the issues.
Any particular background exposure? HVAC, Hard building expansions take out existing and putting in new. New foundations, steel
o Industrial building experience. Automotive is a plus. Working with building trades and union contractors. (project engineer or manager usually know this).
Stay away from someone building a commercial lot like a McDonalds etc. We dont have same finishes as they do or as custom.
If they have experience in the construction of large office type buildings and projects. This could be possible. Would need to in charge of the project.
Other experience: Hospitals, oil and gas pipeline are different animals. Hospital may have some interior similarities. Oil and gas, not so much.
