Akkodis is seeking a Mechanical Engineer - Boydton, VA, for an 8-month Contract with a client in Boydton, VA. Ideally looking for applicants with a MEP Engineer with a proven track record in data center construction. This role demands a strong foundation in mechanical and electrical systems, deep understanding of controls and infrastructure engineering, and the ability to manage complex field execution.


Rate Range: $85.00 - $90.00 P/HR.; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.


You'll be responsible for overseeing all field-related MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) mission-critical activities and collaborating closely with project managers and subcontractors to ensure successful delivery.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership in MEP systems across all phases of data center construction.
  • Ensure all project elements align with evolving construction standards and best practices.
  • Resolve site-based conflicts and coordinate RFIs with design teams to remove blockers to schedule.
  • Manage vendor relationships and align construction execution with project objectives.
  • Champion job site safety, and ensure quality, schedule, and cost targets are consistently met.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders such as IT, Legal, Engineering, and Risk Management to uphold project governance.

Day-to-Day Tasks:

  • Research, design, develop, and test MEP systems, tools, and machinery.
  • Review design proposals, specifications, and manuals to assess feasibility and budgeting.
  • Diagnose equipment issues and provide actionable feedback to maintenance teams.
  • Collaborate with drafting teams and contribute to structural designs using CAD tools and Bluebeam.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and ensure alignment with design blueprints and technical standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field).
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in MEP or data center construction roles.
  • Strong skills in blueprint reading, technical drawing interpretation, and engineering calculations.
  • Familiarity with CAD software, Bluebeam, and other construction-related digital tools.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and team collaboration mindset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
