Position: Metal Stamping Engineer

Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Metal Stamping Engineer to join our team. This individual will possess comprehensive knowledge of metal stamping processes, dies, blueprints, and stamping equipment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in maintaining and improving existing tools and systems within a stamping department and Tool & Die maintenance environment.


The role requires strong analytical skills, the ability to troubleshoot complex tooling and press issues, and proficiency in using engineering software. A successful candidate will also possess a deep understanding of safety protocols, production quality standards, and manufacturing operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair defects in stamping machines and related equipment.
  • Design and develop tooling layouts and improvements for stamping dies.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies to enhance production efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Troubleshoot die and press issues to identify and address root causes of failures.
  • Collaborate with tooling and quality teams to design and implement more efficient tooling solutions.
  • Create and update engineering drawings and documentation to support process improvement and quality standards.
  • Lead and support cost-saving initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
  • Develop and standardize work instructions, setup procedures, and preventative maintenance documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Interpret and apply information from Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and ensure proper handling and storage of oils and chemicals.
  • Participate in problem-solving teams and support cross-functional initiatives to meet customer demands.
  • Drive first-run capability improvements and support efforts to minimize equipment downtime.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in die stamping or die design.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role, preferably within the metal stamping industry.
  • Solid understanding of progressive, tandem, and transfer stamping presses and tooling.
  • Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting tooling and machine issues.
  • Experience in machine and tool design improvements focused on safety, efficiency, and product quality.
  • Familiarity with CAD software; Autodesk Inventor experience is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints and schematics.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of production and quality control procedures used in a manufacturing environment.
  • Capable of managing schedules and budgets related to new tooling and process improvements.
  • Experience with visual management systems and standardizing technician work methods.
