Working for Waukesha Bearings as a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for interpreting engineering instructions and requirements to create high-tolerance, multi-component mechanical 3D models and drawings that meet application requirements by applying your knowledge, experience, and standard design practices.

You will also perform checks on assembly and component drawings, part structures (BOMs), and item-specific information for accuracy of design intent and application-specific details. Additionally, you will contribute to process improvement, design for manufacturability activities, and the development and implementation of company-wide design standards and practices aligned with industry best practices and efficiency improvements.

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, with at least 3 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with precision design and manufacturing processes
  • Understanding of engineering principles and design practices
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software (preferably Autodesk Inventor)
  • Ability to apply continuous improvement techniques to existing processes
  • Skill in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, surface gauges, etc.
  • Experience reading and developing engineering drawings with geometric dimensioning and tolerances
  • Knowledge of mathematical concepts such as probability, statistics, structural and fluid dynamics, and geometry
  • Experience with FEA software like ANSYS, Abaqus, or COMSOL is highly desirable

What You Will Do

  • Create 3D models and associated 2D drawings
  • Develop and maintain Item and Part Structure (BOM) information within ERP systems
  • Manage 3D model and 2D drawing databases via ECN processes
  • Check assembly and component drawings for accuracy
  • Guide and support other design engineers and drafters
  • Update drawings to align with current manufacturing processes
  • Participate in process improvement and design for manufacturability activities
  • Assist manufacturing with evaluations, corrective actions, and quality activities
  • Support engineering process development and manufacturability efforts as directed
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to meet design and process requirements
  • Assist in preparing engineering project proposals
