Job Summary:
The Mechanical Design Engineer will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficiency and optimization of our manufacturing processes. Primary Functions:
- Perform engineering design calculations
- Interpret specifications (industry, product, or customer) and convert requirements into final designs with minimal supervision.
- Draw, organize, and document existing parts.
- Build and maintain part, drawing, and assembly libraries to expedite workflow and revision control.
- Support sales and applications with quoting systems components and assemblies.
- Create part and/or assembly drawings to meet customer specifications.
- Generate BOM's, parts lists, and routings.
- Maintain data within Business Central ERP system.
- Work closely with other departments and customers on design for manufacturing.
- Assist with continuous improvement projects for the manufacturing facility.
- Participate in cross functional project teams.
- Learn and share best practices with other team members.
Primary Competencies:
- Experience building design tables and component libraries is an asset.
- A general understanding of manufacturing processes (polishing, assembly, machining, welding, etc.).
- Ability to learn and work within company's Business Central ERP system is required.
- Working knowledge of Word and Excel.
- Troubleshooting skills and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with various drafting standards.
- Must have a basic understanding of material properties.
- Demonstrate a commitment to teamwork and a willingness to help others.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required with five years' engineering work experience preferred.
- Must be an expert in 3D modeling, preferred knowledge of Autodesk Inventor and Creo.
- Experience in designing and testing engineered industrial products is preferred.
- Experience working with welding applications, piping, or pressure vessel design codes and calculations is preferred.
- Familiar with Food/Beverage/Pharmaceutical standards including 3A and BPE products preferred.
