As a Mechanical Chassis Engineer, you will work closely with engineering and production teams to develop, design and document product and processes. The main goal of this position is to develop systems for vehicle chassis and external components in current and future overlanding expedition vehicles. Ideal applicants will have both an engineering and technical background in the automotive industry, and extensive experience developing and analyzing current and future product. Strong experience with on and off-road vehicle characteristics is a plus.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Component design and requirements specifications for overlanding expedition chassis and overall vehicle projects.
  • Development of schedules and test plans for new product release.
  • Review of mechanical system designs for Legacy and future product.
  • Review of Engineering Change documentation to ensure control of all product.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Software and Computer Skills

  • Must be proficient in Solidworks and development of designs for large assemblies.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office 365 suite.
  • Understanding of Smartsheet is preferred.

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience working for an automotive firm or direct supplier.
  • Knowledge of design standards for steel, aluminum and carbon fiber components.
  • Extensive experience with static and dynamic stress analysis.
  • Experience with continuous improvement for process, procedure, and quality.
  • Must pay attention to detail.
  • Ability to be flexible as production demands change.
  • Understanding of GD&T.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Current driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Must be local applicant willing to work in office and manufacturing environment.

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • Experience delivering a project through complete development cycle from Requirements Specification to End of Life.
  • Experience with system design interfacing with electrical systems.
  • Understanding of OEM vehicle system architecture and layout.
  • Creative resolution of difficult design challenges.
  • Experience with large CAD assemblies.
  • Ability to manage time wisely.

Education

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering

Job Details

  • This is a Full time position requiring consistent dependable attendance.
  • This position is exempt, and therefore not eligible for overtime pay.
  • The position may require some work outside of normal business hours.
  • This position reports directly to the Engineering Manager.
  • Salary Range: $70,000-$90,000
  • Benefit Package totals additional $6,000-$10,000 annually:

o 10-12 paid Holidays (including week between Christmas/New Years)

Working Environment and Physical Demands

  • The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Fast-paced production environment.
  • Requires computer work sitting at a desk, as well as standing, bending, stooping, lifting (weights up to 75 lbs.) and stretching.
  • Requires climbing or working on ladders or scaffolding up to 10 feet high.
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to safely operate a hand and power tools, and other manufacturing equipment.
  • Requires a normal range of hearing to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (machinery and alarms).
  • Requires eyesight correctable to 20/20 to work with small objects, read small print, use computers.
