Job Summary

Individual will work as a mechanic in the shop/home based team member responsible for the assembly, preparation, and disassembly of the equipment by using various mechanical tools. Mechanic must be versatile to work on all aspects of the race car. Performs different aspects of mechanical work depending upon experience such as Drive-line, Suspension, Brake Fluid, Interior and Electrical Systems

Duties

  • Preparing finished components of the race car according to established procedures for each event
  • Making the necessary adjustments to assigned components to meet design specifications and achieve desired results.
  • Preparing a complete supply of finished parts as spares for race events.
  • Ensuring assigned components of the race car are safely assembled, bolted or otherwise secured.
  • Maintaining accurate records for assigned adjustable race car components.
  • Openly communicating with supervisors to ensure all cars meet specified deadlines for preparation and loading onto the transporters, as well as to develop and continuously improve functional and quality components.
  • Safely operating equipment according to recommended safety specifications, including use of all protective equipment necessary (protective eyewear, earplugs, etc) while identifying any safety hazards and reporting all risks immediately to a supervisor.
  • Keeping work area clean and organized at all times.
  • Provide assistance to other team members on other duties as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of experience as mechanic within the racing industry
  • High school diploma or equivalent, basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical components and structural framework of cars.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of set-up specifications for cars and identify appropriate safety mechanisms for each component.
  • Must be thorough with a strong sense of attention to detail and willingness to work on a tight schedule
  • Mechanical aptitude along with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to build internal relationships and interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Must be proficient in using precision measuring devices.
