We are seeking a skilled Maritime Mechanic / Outside Machinist to join our team. In this role, you will work primarily on ships, vessels, and other maritime equipment to perform machining, maintenance, and repairs. As a Maritime Outside Machinist, you will be responsible for fabricating, installing, and troubleshooting mechanical systems in various marine environments, ensuring all equipment operates efficiently and safely.
Pay: $20 - 30
Shift: 1st shift
Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain a variety of heavy-duty machining tools, including lathes, mills, and grinders, on board vessels and at maritime facilities.
Conduct preventive maintenance and repair of machinery, engines, and mechanical systems aboard ships.
Fabricate replacement parts and components as required, ensuring precise measurements and tolerances.
Troubleshoot mechanical issues, including propulsion systems, pumps, valves, and other essential shipboard equipment.
Work closely with ship crews and other technicians to complete repairs and installations in a timely and efficient manner.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and ship schematics.
Perform welding, cutting, and other metalworking tasks as needed to support repairs and modifications.
Ensure all work complies with safety standards and maritime regulations.
Keep accurate records of work performed, parts used, and any modifications made.
Respond to emergency repair needs in critical shipboard systems.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in machining, maritime mechanics, or a related field.
At least 5 years of experience as an outside machinist, with a strong emphasis on maritime or shipboard work.
Proficiency in machining and mechanical systems repair, including the ability to operate various tools and equipment.
Strong knowledge of maritime mechanical systems, engines, and machinery.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to work under pressure.
Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team.
Ability to lift and maneuver heavy equipment and materials.
Willingness to travel to job sites on vessels and other maritime facilities.
Must be able to work in confined or hazardous spaces as required on ships.
Valid driver's license and transportation to and from work sites.
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Pay Details: $20.00 to $30.00 per hour
