The Meals on Wheels Assistant Cook provides food and baking preparation, oversees diet modifications, and assists the head cook to provide meals for homebound senior citizens in the Orleans County Community.

WHAT IS ARC GLOW? We are a parent and family driven organization that empowers and supports people of all ages with a broad spectrum of emotional, intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our residential locations cover the four counties in the GLOW region, providing supports and services to over 150 people.
WHO DOES THE ARC GLOW SUPPORT? - People with intellectual and developmental disabilities will be valued members of their communities, with the opportunity to realize their full potential and a future that is secure.
WHAT WOULD I BE DOING? - Comprehend recipes, adjust as needed, and use portion control to produce quality products.
- Prepare daily meals and bake desserts.
- Assist the Head Cook, including relieving and replacing the Head Cook as needed to carryout quality service.
- Assist with menu preparation, document menu changes, and order recipe items.
- Responsible for daily and weekly cleaning.
- Fill placement orders accurately and document production.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE MEALS ON WHEELS ASSISTANT COOK: - A valid NYS driver's license with an acceptable driving record, per agency policy, and reliable transportation to and from work is required.
- The physical ability to stand, push, pull, bend, and lift up to 50lbs
- Knowledge of food service preparation.
- The ability to follow recipes and diet instructions.
- Must be clean, organized and have the ability to follow and carry out directions with little supervision.
