Job Summary:

The Minimum Data Set (MDS) nurse position is accountable for coordinating and overseeing the full collaborative, interdisciplinary assessment and care planning process in Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF). The nurse is responsible for coordinating and certifying the completion of the resident assessment instrument (RAI). This position calls for a person who works well with the interdisciplinary team (nursing, therapy, dietary, social services and activities) to develop, revise, update and maintain a comprehensive care plan and ensure that compliance is maintained with state and federal guidelines.

Skills/Qualities:
  1. Must be dedicated to learning and possess adaptable skills - The RAI manual is constantly being updated and revised according to Medicare requirements.

  2. Must be detail-oriented and have excellent time management. Able to interpret and implement RAI knowledge correctly within a timely manner.

  3. Critical thinking skills with the use of expert clinical skills to determine resident condition and level of care needed. Able to determine significant changes in the clinical picture.

  4. Team player who is compassionate and able to communicate well, possess interviewing skills, and able to handle difficult topics.

Minimum Qualifications for the Job:

  • Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, with Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Experience: Three (3) years of recent nursing experience in a long-term care, hospital, home health, or medical facility.
  • License(s): Current State of Alaska Nursing License.
  • Certification(s): Must obtain an RAC-CT certification through AAPACN within one year of hire.
Internal Hires: Pay rate will be determined based on applicable personnel rule or union contract terms. External Hires: This position starts at $47.18 per hour. Step placement and rate of pay will be determined based on relevant experience. Practice Notices:

Originally known as St. Ann s Hospital, the hospital opened in 1886 and was operated by the Sisters of St. Ann until the 1960s. In 1965, the hospital s operations were turned over to the City and Borough of Juneau, and a new facility was built at the hospital s present location on Hospital Drive.

Bartlett Regional Hospital is licensed for a total of 57 inpatient beds and 16 residential substance-abuse treatment facility beds in the Rainforest Recovery Center. The hospital serves a 15,000-square-mile region in the northern part of Southeast Alaska. Approximately 55,000 people reside in our service area, with most communities inaccessible by road.
