Essential Duties:

  • Develop and deliver engaging and effective math lessons for students at various levels (eg, middle school, high school, or advanced courses).
  • Use a variety of teaching methods to cater to different learning styles, including lectures, demonstrations, hands-on activities, and experiments.
  • Prepare lesson plans, learning materials, and assessments in alignment with the curriculum and educational standards.
  • Foster a positive learning environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
  • Collaborate with other faculty members to create and refine curriculum materials, ensuring they meet the needs of the school's educational goals.
  • Maintain an orderly and productive classroom environment, addressing student behavior and promoting respect for others.
  • Encourage and guide students in collaborative group work and individual tasks.
  • Provide timely feedback to students on their progress, offering support and guidance to help them improve.
  • Offer additional support during office hours, study sessions, or one-on-one mentoring for students who require extra help or challenge.
  • Advise students on college and career pathways, particularly in science-related fields.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in Math, Statistics, Math Education, or a related field (master's degree preferred for advanced courses or higher teaching roles).
  • Prior experience teaching math at the middle or high school level, particularly in a private or independent school setting, is preferred.
  • Experience in designing and delivering hands-on experiments.
  • Experience with advanced courses (eg, AP Math, IB Math) may be a plus.
  • In-depth understanding of math principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Ability to explain complex topics clearly and in an engaging manner.
  • Proficiency in laboratory practices and safety protocols.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students, encouraging their curiosity and passion for math.
  • Skills in assessing and addressing diverse learning needs.
  • Familiarity with educational technology tools, learning management systems, and digital resources to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Ability to integrate technology effectively into math instruction, such as through simulations and multimedia presentations.
