Akkodis is seeking a Contract-to-Hire Materials/Manufacturing Engineer for a Contract-to-Direct Hire position in Garden City, NY.


  • Hourly Rate: $55.00 - $60/hour The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
  • Type: Contract-to-Hire
  • Location: Garden City, NY
  • Duration: 6 months then Conversion Direct Hire

Job Specific Duties:


• Conduct analysis of Brazing of aluminum and Inconel.


• Identify opportunities and implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts.


• Design testing methods and test finished products or process capabilities to establish standards or validate process requirements.


• Evaluate manufactured products according to specifications and quality standards, including troubleshooting new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes


• Develop sustainable manufacturing technologies and analyze the financial impacts of sustainable manufacturing


• Provide technical expertise or support related to materials.


• Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness, including determining root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods.


Requirements/Qualifications:


• Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or other relevant degree.


• Due to contracts with the United States Government, the candidate must be either a US Citizen or Green card.


• 4 or more years of experience materials science or metallurgy.


• Exprience with aluminum and Inconel.


• Experience in metal fabrication, welding and brazing of pressure containing products.


• Experience in a highly regulated industry, such as, Military, Aerospace, Nuclear or Automotive or other similar.


• Solid people and communication skills are required (both oral and written).


• Strong interpersonal skills requiring the ability to resolve conflicting interests and obtain cooperation


• Computer literacy in a MRP system (Oracle a plus) preferred.


• Microsoft Office.


• Able to work under pressure


• Highly technical and analytical skills such (drawings, schematics, layout)


• Able to think out of box.


• Project management skills


• Highly organized and efficient


• Possess leadership and interpersonal skills


• Strong problem-solving skills


• Due to ITAR Restrictions, an export license may be required.
