Material Handler

Job Summary:
The Material Handler is responsible for performing a combination of physical and administrative tasks involved in the storing, counting, and distributing of materials, parts, supplies, and equipment. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of inventory management and material handling processes. The Material Handler compiles and maintains detailed records of the quantity, cost, and type of materials stocked and issued, and prepares material requisitions as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.


• Previous experience in material handling, inventory management, or a related field is preferred.


• Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.


• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.


• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.


• Physical stamina to lift and move heavy items.

• The Material Handler plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient flow of materials and supplies within the organization. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy and efficiency.

• Material Handling and Distribution:

  • Retrieve required items from requisitions, order lists, or stock lists.
  
  
  • Use checklists to ensure the accuracy of items pulled for kits.
  
  
  • Accumulate orders, report shortages, and transport completed orders to designated distribution points or staging areas.
  
  
  • Process returned items and handle unscheduled issues promptly.



• Inventory Management:

  
  
  • Compile and maintain accurate inventory records of materials received, stocked, and issued.
  
  
  • Prepare and submit requests for the procurement of materials as necessary.
  
  
  • Conduct regular cycle counts to take inventory of stored items and ensure inventory accuracy.
  
  
  • Examine, stock, and distribute materials within inventory and on manufacturing lines.

• Operational Support:

  • Lift and move heavy items, utilizing appropriate equipment such as forklifts when necessary.
  
  
  • Audit kits for accuracy and completeness.
  
  
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
