Summary:
Delivers massage therapy services to teammates and dependents (patients) using a variety of techniques as part of a therapeutic treatment program to relieve pain and dysfunction of soft tissues in the body.
Responsibilities:
1. Provides manual massage treatments using accepted massage certification standards. Performs techniques including Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Sports Massage, Neuromuscular Massage, Rolfing, Hellerwork, Craniosacral Therapy, Aston-Patterning, Feldenkrais, and Trager.
2. Applies knowledge of various pathologies, surgeries, physiology and anatomy to the massage therapy plan. Also applies basic knowledge of medical contraindications to massage such as techniques deep vein thrombosis, bleeding, disorders or blood thinners, damaged blood vessels, weakened bones from cancer, osteoporosis, fractures and fever.
3. Documents and modifies massage therapy techniques as needed to achieve patient goals.
4. Understands legal and ethical standards related to massage therapy.
5. Performs simple housekeeping tasks within the employee health to enhance operation efficiency, improve patient flow, improve patient satisfaction scores, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Cleans massage therapy rooms and replaces linens between appointments. Maintains all massage supplies and equipment.
6. Completes continuing education and in-service programs to meet regulatory and job requirements as applicable.
7. Presents and promotes a professional demeanor at all times, establishes high standards of customer service and patient care, supports responsibility, pride, and teamwork, remains calm when under pressure, and offers reasonable solutions for problems. Relates to patients in a compassionate and sincere manner.
8. Demonstrates appropriate interaction with and provides recommended care and services to all patients. Exhibits knowledge and basic understanding regarding the needs of neonatal, adolescent, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients, and the cultural needs of all patients.
9. Applies knowledge of principles of standard precautions. Routinely and consistently uses PPE to avoid risk of exposure to self and others.

Education
• Graduate of an accredited Massage Therapy program with 500 hours of training.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
Licensure/Certification
• Licensed as a Massage Therapist in North Carolina
Experience
• Prior experience as a Massage Therapist in a hospital environment preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Ability to accurately describe patient's condition and reaction to treatment.
