Leading digital media company in the audiobook space is seeking a Marketing/Merchandise Manager to work with all audiobook platforms on strategies for populating each platform's storefront with the company's catalog of bestselling and award-winning audiobooks.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare new title presentations for audiobook reseller platforms.
- Prepare monthly merchandising presentations.
- Meet regularly with platform merchandise teams to review their promotions and placement opportunities and offer our own promotion and placement ideas.
- Respond promptly to all weekly merchandise requests from reseller platforms.
- Respond to all resellers and library providers with curated title lists for various promotion and placement opportunities.
- Using deep knowledge of our catalog and metadata, build and regularly update a library of curated lists of titles within key genres and content types that can be used for specific promotional opportunities.
- Set up pricing promos.
- Manage day-to-day contact with retailers/libraries.
- Manage NetGalley - set up all title records, approve requests on a daily basis.
- Send out weekly or biweekly updates of upcoming titles to retailers and a few industry magazines and reviewers.
- Work with editors as needed to get information on titles and pass along requests.
Qualifications:
- Minimum B.A. degree or equivalent.
- At least 5-10 years' publishing experience in progressively more responsible positions, preferably with experience in audiobooks.
- Deep content knowledge of major genres - romance, mystery/thriller, sci-fi/fantasy - and the authors and trends within those genres.
- Experience with and understanding of traditional publishing business models and new technology business models.
- Must be a creative self-starter with the ability to work remotely, who also has strong organizational skills and is comfortable taking initiative.
- Responsiveness and thoughtfulness.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with teams located around the world.
- Knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel required; familiarity with BISAC codes and metadata formation is a plus.
